The Nigerian Police Command in Enugu State on Tuesday arrested youths numbering over 30 at Okpara square, Enugu.
The youths believed to be members of Biafra Zionists Movement (BZM) reportedly came to the square to commemorate the Biafra Day when the police swooped on them.
The pro-Biafra activists were said to have stormed the venue in line with the May 30th, a day set-aside by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for remembrance of Biafra fallen heroes and agitators who died in the course of self actualisation of the Independent Republic of Biafra.
Our source told Ikengaonline that members of the movement were in the process of carrying out a march past at the Okpara square parade ground with their Leader, Mazi Benjamin Onwuka Kalu, taking salute before they were picked up and hauled into three waiting Police Hilux vehicles.
They were believed to have been taken to the state police command headquarters, Enugu, for interrogation and further investigations.
Items recovered from them include Biafra Zionists insignia, stickers, flags of Biafra, Israel and USA among others.
Some of the placards found on them also read: “I Love My Nation Biafra I am proud of Zionist.”
Police were yet to comment on the issue.
