A federal lawmaker representing Ihiala Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Honourable Pascal Agbodike, has tasked President Bola Tinubu to explore the option of granting amnesty to gunmen terrorising some parts of Anambra and other areas in the South-East.
He also sued for palliatives for community members in Ihiala LGA who have become victims of successive attacks and whose means of livelihoods have been trapped due to the rate of insecurity in the area.
Agbodike was speaking recently during a reception organised in his honour in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
According to him, dialogue and amnesty through mutual understanding remain veritable instruments for securing lasting peace and solution to insecurity in the land.
While noting that that most of the communities in Ihiala had been deserted and now look like ghost communities, the lawmaker said there has not been any consideration yet from the Federal Government to cushion the sufferings of the people whom he said have been rendered homeless.
Agbodike maintained that Ihiala council area boasts of youths with great potential yet untapped. He also said that if the youths are allowed to live in their unemployed state pose danger and could be tempted to channel their talents into negative things that would be inimical to the society.
While he emphasised that one of the major challenges facing the Nigerian youth today remained unemployment, he called on the Federal Government to intervene in the issue and bring a lasting solution to it.
Speaking further, Agbodike who was a two times lawmaker at the Anambra State House of Assembly assured that he has volunteered himself to mediate in the security issues, noting that his interest remains security of lives and property in the area.
