President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, forwarded a letter to the Nigerian Senate, seeking the screening and subsequent confirmation of the newly-appointed Service Chiefs.
This was conveyed in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Akpabio who read the letter during plenary, said that the request was in line with the Act establishing the Armed Forces.
President Tinubu urged the Senate to consider and confirm the Service Chiefs expeditiously.
Ikengaonline had reported that Tinubu appointed Major General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); while Major General Taoreed Lagbaja was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff.
The President had also appointed Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff.
He also appointed Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Meanwhile, the Senate President, after reading the letter, referred the request to the Committee of the Whole as there was no Standing Committee on Armed Forces.
