England, Monday defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the FIFA women world cup competition played in Sydney, Australia.
The European Champions won by 4:2 in a penalty shootout after the full time and extra time ended goalless.
Nigeria’s Michel Alozie and Desire Oparanozie missed their chances during the shootout.
Although the Falcons dominated the match and even hit the post twice, they were, however, not able to score during the tough encounter.
Several attempts by Michel Alozie, Oshola and others to send England packing were unsuccessful.
Nigeria’s goal keeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie performed superlatively having saved some few attempts by England to score during the match.
England were down with a player as their central midfielder, Lauren James, was sent off on the 86th minute after earning a red card for disdainfully stamping on Nigerian player, Michel Alozie.
