Anambra State Government has said it will immortalise past leaders of the state, as well as other illustrious sons and daughters of the state who have made the state proud.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, made the pledge during the Anambra Maiden Investment summit at the International Convention Centre Awka.
According to him, the idea is to promote hard work and excellence in the state.
The Governor promised to rename the International Convention Centre after the immediate-past Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, the architect of the edifice who also built the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport.
Other names in his honours list include former Governors Chukwuemeka Ezeife, and Chinwoke Mbadinuju who built the Anambra State University at Uli; Cardinal Francis Arinze; former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, among others.
Speaking further, Soludo said Anambra State would graduate from its importation status to production and exportation status, adding that his administration will work to empower the emergence of small medium enterprises in the state.
The Governor unfolded plans by his administration to sign a memorandum of understanding with a Canadian firm for the actualisation of the intra-city railway lines in the state.
He unfolded other plans to launch the state to a greater economy and also spoke of his intention to tackle the environmental challenges facing the state particularly erosion.
