All Directors in Abia State who have stayed up to eight years in the directorate position, have been mandated to proceed on compulsory retirement in the next three months.
Similarly, Permanent Secretaries with over four years in the position have also been directed to proceed on retirement.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Service, Lady Joy Maduka.
According to the statement, the directive, is part of the policies to sanitise the civil service.
The statement said the policy was in line with circular No. HSA/S.0074/11/91 of 1st August, 2011.
According to statement the Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Service will only hold office for a term of four years, subject to renewal based on performance.
It prescribed 60 years as retirement age without prejudice to Rule 02809 of the Abia State Public Service.
“The affected Permanent Secretaries and Directors are to commence their retirement procedures in the next three months or forfeit their retirement benefits thereafter,” the statement said.
