The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Abia State; and the Nigeria Navy, have gone into collaboration to strategise on how to keep Abia residents safe and secure ahead of the Yuletide.
Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Paul Igwebuike, disclosed this after a meeting with the Commandant, Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance, Owerrinta, Navy Captain O A Eyitayo, at the NSCDC headquarters, Umuahia.
The NSCDC boss re-assured the general public of the unresolved commitment of the Corps to continue to collaborate with relevant security agencies in the state to improve on the peace and security of residents.
According to a statement by the Head, Public Relations of the Corps, Ndukwe Egwu, the NSCDC boss had while welcoming his guest, and his entourage, noted that NSCDC and the Nigerian Navy had been “age-long dependable allies.”
“He further emphasised that the meeting offered them a very important opportunity to strengthen existing relationship between both agencies and to plan ahead on Yuletide security operations,” the statement read.
It further quoted the NSCDC boss as saying: “This meeting is indeed very strategic in many respects. Beyond the normal familiarisation visits by newly deployed Service Commanders, we have an opportunity here to review strategies, strengthen existing collaboration and emplace measures towards efficiently securing lives and Critical Assets and Infrastructures in the South-East region of the country in particular especially ahead of the Yuletide.”
The Abia NSCDC Boss reiterated that the Commandant General of the Corps, CG Ahmed Abububakar Audi, “is an ardent believer and promoter of synergy and had made same an integral part of the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedure (SOP),” stressing that “the gains of synergy implies a tremendous reduction in interagency supremacy struggles.“
Earlier in his address, the Nigerian Navy College Commandant thanked his host for a warm reception extended to him and his entourage and reassured him of the willingness of his agency to continue to work closely with NSCDC to achieve greater results.
