A Leading provider of mortgage solutions in Nigeria AG Mortgage Bank PLC, RG construction, and Anamco have thrown their weights behind South-East pride of the moment, COALCITY UNITED FC of Enugu.
The sponsors were unveiled in Enugu at an elaborate ceremony for the promoted Enugu based club side, Coal City United, which is competing for the first time in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu by the club media officer, Osondu Ngwude.
Coal City United, which has over 40 registered players in their fold, was given a bus by its major sponsors Mortgage Bank which promised to do more in a five year contract.
The statement named the other club sponsors to include RG Construction and Anamco.
Mr Chwukwuemelia Agu the Coordinator of the Coal City United expressed joy that private individuals and companies have come to partner with the club.
Agu said, “it is important to note that we, not just me have come together to create a way forward for the game of football to grow in the state and the South-East.
“By putting our resources together to improve the lives of the players and by taking them off the streets.
“I am happy that private sector and well to do individuals are begining to understand the importance of impacting on the lives of this youngsters.
“It makes no sense if you have money and you don’t use it to help the young ones in pursuing thier life career,” the former chief of Lamry FC said.
Agu said that he will be fulfilled when he sees the youngsters leave for greener pastures to clubs and countries that will pay them handsomely.
He noted that the sponsorship covered the NNL outfit’s travels and other financial responsibilities incurred by the club in the 2023/24 league season.
Earlier, the AG Mortgage Bank PLC Managing Director, Mrs Ngozi Aniagulu, said they were in this package because they understand the need to impact on the young ones.
“We are in this partnership because of the need to grow businesses just as we have been doing since 20 years of this company’s existence,” she said.
She promised that the partnership between them and Coal city has come to stay and goes beyond their social corporate responsibility to the nation.
“We are in this for the long haul and we will go beyond expected for a club we have found worthy to drive the name of the company.
“We chose Coal City United FC because of its professional set up and we know that they are able to represent us well by leaving a lasting legacy as true professional football club.
“I will like to call on the players to take advantage of this true gift made possible by the club with a structure that will stand the test of time,” Aniagulu advised.
Aniagulu, who flew in from Lagos to be present at the occasion called on the players to take advantage of the platform which has been thrown at them to realise their dreams.
Coal City United FC finished unbeaten at the NLO play offs in Awka before gaining promotion to the NNL.
The club with its home ground in Enugu have now joined Rangers international of Enugu as the only two clubs with front shirt sponsorship.
