Ugo Nosiri, Owerri

The Nigerian Army has launched a special security operation in the South-East named operation “Exercise Golden Dawn Three,” to replaced “Operation Udoka,” which functioned in the months of September, October and November of 2023.

At the launch of the operation in Owerri, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada, said the operation is aimed at guaranteeing safety of lives and property during and after the yuletide.

Major Dada assured the South Easterners of adequate security during the Christmas and New Year festivities and warned that his men were ready to deal with anyone that would want to test their might by engaging in any form of crime.

He maintained that the military were determined to end the nefarious activities of secessionists, fight kidnapping, combat robbery, cultism and oil bunkering in the zone.

The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku, commended the military for being proactive in fighting insecurity in the state and reassured the commitment of the government to support security agencies in their operation.

The Governor described the operation as apt, noting that his administration would continue to accord priority to protection of lives and property of law-abiding citizens.
