Road users have been advised to be safety conscious while making use of the roads especially this yuletide period.

The Police Commissioner in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, gave the advise during a traffic control sensitisation on the need for motorists to apply safety and obey traffic rules especially this festive season.

CP Danjuma noted that the sensitisation was necessitated to remind road users of the need to drive safely to avoid road traffic crashes.

“We want Christmas and New Year celebrated accident free,” he admonished.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps Imo State, Mr Evaristus Ebeniro, stated that the event  was to sensitise commuters not to cause  blockage at the major roads leading into the state to reduce traffic congestion.

“We are in this collaboration to ensure that commuters have the best of time entering into Imo state and also departing.”

Mr Ebeniro called on road users especially  at the traffic prone area of the state to obey traffic rules and not to obstruct free flow of traffic.

The Chairman National Union of Road Transport Workers, Imo State chapter, Mr. Samuel Ude, thanked the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for the reconstruction of roads in the state and  promised on behalf of the Union to ensure that all members on the wheel keep to the traffic rules.

The sensitisation which  was organised by the police command in Imo State in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps Imo State sector command, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers was done at major traffic flows  leading into the state from neighboring states.
