Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia
Work on the six-lane Ossah Road Umuahia recently awarded by Gov. Alex Otti is on top speed.
Drainage on the road is almost 90% completed.
Otti who awarded the project to a German construction firm, CRANEBURG, said he wanted Umuahia to have a befitting entry point.
The six-lane road, which when completed, will be the first of its kind in Abia begins from Abia Tower junction of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, and ends at the Okpara Square round-about inside the city centre.
When Ikengaonline visited the project site to ascertain the level of progress, it was observed that the work was moving with speed.
With the speed of the project, it is likely that one of the lanes could be ready before Christmas.
Although there are traffic snarl and diversion at some points due to the ongoing construction, residents are excited that very soon Umuahia will have a befitting gateway.
