Honourable Chiamaobi Atu (LP), Member representing Enugu North and Enugu South Federal Constituency, has reiterated his call to build a new Nigeria where peace, love and justice exist for everyone.
Atu made the call on Monday in his country home, Ugwuaji in Enugu, while hosting and distributing bags of rice, wrappers and other materials to some of his constituents as part of Christmas celebration.
He also urged Christians to learn from the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.
He explained that Christ was sacrificially sent down by God to save mankind from destruction and to give another opportunity to man.
According to him, no nation can develop if the citizens are not willing to make sacrifices.
“The birth of Christ reminds you and me that love, giving, peace and justice, are the major principles that move a nation,” he said.
On the state of the economy, Atu said it was a trying time for Nigerians who could barely feed themselves.
He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to rejig the economy in order to reduce hardship in the land.
“Many Nigerians could hardly feed themselves. We cannot continue this way.
“The Federal Government must as a matter of urgency stimulate this economy,” he added.
One of the constituents, Mr Johnpaul Nnaji, appreciated the lawmaker for his Christmas gesture, adding: “These items will go a long way to ameliorate the hardship my family is passing through.”
Another constituent, Mrs Ifeyinwa Nnebuife, prayed God to continue to bless and protect the lawmaker as he had constantly remembered the poor over many years now.
