Three persons were killed on Wednesday evening in a fatal road accident in Ebonyi State.

The accident, Ikengaonline gathered, happened in front of the Ebonyi State University permanent site gate along the Abakaliki-Enugu highway.

Eyewitnesses say 3 women victims were motionless and believed to have died from the impact of the accident.

They were said to be waiting for commercial vehicles to take them to their destinations when a white jeep lost control and rammed into them and others.

Three other persons waiting for a bus were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.

According to an eye witness, the female driver of the car was on very high speed and lost control of the car on reaching the junction.

This led to the car skidding of the road and running into the victims.

The car also rammed into a motorcycle and later ended up in a the overgrown grasses close to the fence of the university.

Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, Igwe Nnabuife, confirmed the accident.

He said: “The accident involved a Lexus jeep and a mate 90 motorcycle with six casualties, five females and one male. Three were killed and the other three injured.”

He added that the injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment while the dead were taken to the mortuary.
