The Enugu Rangers International Football Club will on January 24, clash with Rivers United FC in a rescheduled week 11 Nigerian Premiere Football League (NPFL) 2023/4 match.
Norbert Okolie, Media Officer of the club said the NPFL organisers have fixed the encounter for Wednesday, January 24, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, “The Cathedral,” Enugu.
According to him, the release from the organisers, which was endorsed by the Chief Operating Officer, Prince Davidson Owumi, titled, ‘Re-Arrangement and Rescheduling of Match Day Fixtures,’ directed all involved in prosecuting matches to ensure that logistics were available.
It would be recalled that the Rangers vs Rivers United earlier scheduled for December 3, 2023, had to be pushed forward to the new date of January 24, 2024, due largely to the involvement of the Port Harcourt side in the CAF Confederation Cup 2023/2024.
Okolie said that before the rescheduled encounter, the coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side would make a road trip to Eket, Akwa Ibom State, for a date with Akwa United in a match day 19 fixture.
“There are high hopes that Rangers would maintain their new-found form that helped the ‘Flying Antelopes’ annihilate the ‘Savannah Scorpions,’ Gombe United, 4-1 in a match day 18 fixture over the weekend,” he said.
