Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Lloyd Ekweremadu, has, commended the sponsor of Governor (Dr) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s Boxing Championship, the CEO, David’s Hills Entertainment, David Nwobodo, for his immense contribution towards boxing development in the State.
Speaking while receiving the Sponsor of the first edition of Governor (Dr) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Boxing Championship, in his office, the Commissioner expressed happiness with the sponsor, noting that Enugu State Government envisions to engage the private sector to help sponsor sports.
According to him, government alone cannot fund sports.
He stated that the Ministry was looking for alternative sources of funding sports, adding that Enugu State government was desirious of partnering the Federal Ministry of Sports, to build a Hall of Fame in recognition of sponsors of sports in Enugu State.
Earlier, the Managing Director David’s Hills Entertainment and sponsor of Governor (Dr) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Boxing Championship, Mr David Nwobodo, praised the commissioner for his passion and commitment towards sports development in the State.
He explained that his goals were, to discover and develop boxing talents in the State.
He further explained that he came to invite the Commissioner to the Boxing Championship, scheduled to hold from 12-14 February, 2024 at the David’s Hills Entertainment and Event Centre, 734 Ezilo Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.
