The Enugu State Government says it is committed to protecting and supporting any genuine local and foreign investment in the state by providing adequate security and the needed infrastructure.
Governor Peter Mbah said this during the celebration of the 60th birthday of a veteran broadcast journalist, Chief Vinmartin Ilo.
The birthday celebration was marked together with the commissioning of a newly built broadcasting house named after the late CEO of DAAR Communications Limited, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
Mbah, represented by his deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, commended Chief Ilo for the lofty initiative.
The governor reminded other wealthy individuals from the South-East to think home while establishing any investment.
Also speaking, Senator (Chief) Enyinnaya Abaribe called on governor Mbah to revive the skills acquisition programme initiated by the administration of Barr Sullivan Chime in order to get the youths out of the streets.
Abaribe further urged the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying that, criminals now hide under his incarceration to perpetrate crimes in the South-East region thereby increasing the rate of insecurity in the region.
The senator said it was time for Ndigbo to look for their future.
“It is time for Ndigbo to reorientate themselves and rediscover themselves,” he said.
According to him, so many opportunities have eluded Ala Igbo because of “our disposition.”
He called for more education and orientation of Igbo youths to be self sufficient and independent.
“All hands should be on deck to make Ala Igbo economically viable,” Abaribe said.
