Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has given a marching order to security agencies in the state to go after pipeline vandals.

Governor Uzodimma stated this while condemning a pipeline explosion that occurred in the Ohaji area of the state, leading to the loss of five lives.

The Governor maintained that the state could not afford to be embroiled in incessant economic sabotage as a result of the activities of illegal oil bunkerers.

He said that apart from the attendant loss of lives, pipeline vandalism had dealt a serious blow on the economy of the State.

The Governor regretted the loss of lives as a result of the incident, saying the frequent pipeline vandalism in the area was a cause of concern to the State Government.

The Governor commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, and called on the youths of the area to desist from such nefarious activities.

No fewer than five suspected vandals were burnt beyond recognition while scooping oil from an oil pipeline at Obitti Rubber Estate, in Ohaji.
