Ohanaeze Ndigbo has declared Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, a ‘Grade A’ Governor of the South-East zone.
According to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Gov. Otti has so far demonstrated leadership by example.
President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, made the pronouncement when he led a delegation of Ohanaeze leadership to the Governor.
He expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the Government which he described as legendary.
“I have field officers who report to me, they have given to me very excellent report on the performance of Abia State Governor, His Excellency Alex Otti. I have also confirmed all the information I have sent people in the filed.
“In fact, he is classified “A” in our classification. I have come here today, I have discussed with him and I have confirmed that everything reported to me about his efforts, his achievements since he was sworn in on 29th of May, 2023, is true. All I can say here on behalf of Igbos all over the world as their leader is congratulations.”
The Ohanaeze PG said that Igboland is blessed with abundant natural resources including crude oil, limestone, uranium, coal, among others.
He called on Igbo people to tap into the unharnessed natural resources found in the region for economic development.
Iwuanyanwu said there was need to change the misconception about Ndigbo by non-Igbos, stressing that only Ndigbo and not outsiders can better tell their stories.
Receiving the Ohanaeze delegation, Governor Otti thanked Chief Iwuanyanwu for the endorsement, and said it would spur him to achieve more.
Otti who expressed concern over the economic condition of Ndigbo said he came to office prepared because he understood the problem of the people.
According to him, one of the major challenges of the people is access road, hence his resolve to tackle it headlong.
Otti said his aim was to make Abia a reference point for development in the country, assuring that by the time he is done, Abia will be a leading state in so many sectors.
He noted that already a number of investors had indicated interest in investing in the state, adding that very soon the issue of power will be tackled as Geometric Power Plant Aba will be inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Otti said that he had approved that an assessment of the International Glass Industry, Aba and other moribund industries be done to enable his Government take decision on whether to retrofit them or build new ones, adding that Abia has many mineral resources that would be harnessed.
The Governor pledged to give Ohaneze Ndigbo all the support, and commended Chief Iwuanyanwu for accepting to serve Ndigbo, describing Igbo as industrious, business-like and lovers of education.
Some of the Ohanaeze chieftains present at the visit were the Secretary General, Ambassador Okey Emuchay; National Vice President, Dr Kingsley Dozie; among others.
