Hon. Chimex Uluocha, of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, has been elected the new Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Abia State.
The new IPAC Chairman emerged Saturday in a peaceful election conducted at the premises of the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Umuahia.
He scored 12 votes to beat his only counterpart, and the state Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri.
Hon. Prince Onukwuwe, of Zenith Labour Party, was elected the Deputy Chairman; while Elder Edward Ezenwoke, of Social Democratic Party, SDP, emerged the Secretary.
Other successful candidates were Joseph Ulu of National Rescue Movement, NRM, Publicity Secretary; Victor Umunna of Allied Peoples Movement, the Organising Secretary; while Christian Onyekachi of Youth Party, YP, was elected the Deputy Secretary.
Ogbonnaya Uma of Accord party, was elected the Treasurer; Ikenna Edozie of Action Alliance, AA, Legal Adviser; while the state Chairman of African Action Congress, AAC, emerged the Financial Secretary.
Members of the new Exco were immediately sworn in by the Returning Officer of the election, and National Youth Leader of SDP, Mr Uchechukwu Ogbonna.
In his acceptance speech, the new IPAC Chairman, Uluocha, thanked the delegates for believing in him, and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
Speaking later in an interview, the Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ulu, described the exercise as the emergence of a new dawn in the history of IPAC in Abia.
He promised that members of the new exco would work together as a team.
Meanwhile INEC officials, and security agents witnessed the election.
