The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Enugu State has embarked on street protest in the state capital over the current hunger and economic hardship in the country.
The Chairman of State NLC, Mr Fabian Nwigbo, who led the protest, said the protest by the Congress was to draw the attention of government of Enugu State and Federal Government to hardships facing citizens.
He said these hardship was caused by some anti-people policies of the government.
While addressing Members at the NLC Secretariat, Nwigbo said it was regrettable that there was so much hunger in the land, adding that a lot of Nigerians were dying because they could not have access to basic medication and three square meals per day.
The chairman said that the NLC members in the state came out in their numbers to show the world that they joined members on the national protest against hunger in the land.
Nwigbo, however, regretted that the police command in Enugu State has restricted the protest within the state as ‘it could not afford to secure Labour movement beyond NLC Secretariat.’
He, however said that the protest will continue on Wednesday February 28.
“We will continue tomorrow as the struggle continues.”
