Fidelis Illechukwu, Technical Adviser of Enugu Rangers International Football Club, has said that the team was not under pressure to win the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) 2023/24.
Illechukwu who spoke with Ikengaonline correspondent on Friday in Enugu, said that the current Rangers squad was built around young players for the future.
“We are not under pressure to win the league title, it is those who want to win the league that are under pressure.
“For us, we are doing our thing, if at the end of the day it happens fine. We have a lot of young players we are working on for the future,” he said.
On the recent upsurge in the performance of Rangers in the league, the Technical Adviser said the team had injury crisis in the first half of the league.
“In the first round we had injury crisis especially in our defence line but now they have recovered, even now we have not started playing the new players we signed,” he said.
He described their next opponent on Sunday, Kwara United, as a formidable team but said he was optimistic Rangers would triumph.
“Kwara is a good team no doubt but we are prepared to meet them at the Cathedral, and hopefully we will win them come Sunday,” Illechukwu said.
He expressed satisfaction with the massive support of fans at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and urged them to come out on Sunday as usual to cheer Rangers to victory.
The flying Antelopes is currently sitting third on the 20-team league with 40 points.
