The he remains of the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Dr Herbert Wigwe; his wife, Doreen Chizoba and first son, Chizzy, have been laid to rest in his Isiokpo, Ikwere Local Government Area, Rivers State country-home.

The late banker was buried in a private tomb inside the Wigwe University which he built in Isiokpo.

It was rivers of tears as relations and friends wept uncontrollably at their graveside while their remains were being lowered to the mother earth.

The Wigwes died in a tragic helicopter crash in the United States of America, about three weeks ago.

Their bodies arrived Nigeria on Friday ahead of interment in their country home.

Before the burial Saturday, their bodies were moved from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo after a funeral service to the private mausoleum where they were finally interred.

Ikengaonline had reported that the Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, also died alongside the Wigwes during the crash in US.

Meanwhile, it was a gathering of who is who at the funeral as dignitaries from across the country and beyond gathered to pay their last respect to the departed.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 poll; were among some of the mourners at the funeral.

Others were former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Amaechi, Sanusi Lamido, Gov.Alex Otti of Abia State, Dapo Abiodun, and Babajide Sawno-Olu of Lagos State.

Present also were James Ibori, CEO of GTCO Holdings, and Segun Agbaje, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, his Bayelsa counterpart, Diri, among other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, Governor Fubara promised continued support of Rivers State Government to the Wigwes.
