A support group known as Soludo Ambassadors has canvassed for the reelection of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, as reward for his remarkable achievement within the two years of his stay in office.

During Anambra North zonal mega rally that took place at the premises of the Oyi Council Headquarter, Nteje, on Saturday, the group said the governor has done tremendously well and deserves support from the people to achieve his developmental agenda for the state this tenure and beyond

Convener of Soludo Ambassadors and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr Ossy Onuko, said Anambra State has woken up from slumber ever since Soludo became the Governor of the State.

Onuko while addressing the mammoth crowd of supporters said the governor deserves commendation, noting that he has tried in all ramifications towards the development of the state. He also said that Soludo through numerous projects has not only endeared himself to the people but has been an inspiration in the state.

“What we are saying is that Soludo is working. This is the first time in the history of politics in Nigeria where a first time governor deliberately delivered dividends of democracy to the people without thinking about the next election.

“From his first day in office, he showed the people that he came to work for them. Through Soludo, the story of Okpoko in Onitsha has changed. He has transformed Okpoko and today, there are hospitals, schools, roads, and even water to drink in the area.

“Awka had been a dead capital and was being used to mock Anambra. But today, the town has been transformed to a real capital city. The biggest  recreation center called the Solution fun city is being built in the capital to add to the new Unizik junction-Isuaniocha road made dual carriage way by the governor,” Onuko said.

The ACTDA boss noted father that Anambra government is gradually ending the era of schools without teachers with the employment of 5,000 teachers in its first phase of recruitment. He noted the government has revived healthcare system such that pregnant women receive free antenatals and give birth free of charge in the state. He added that the empowerment of 5,000 youths through one youth-two-skills with grants for start-up has eliminated crime and hard drug intake by youths of the state.

On his own, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, noted that what that the state has witnessed under Soludo had never been seen since the coming of civilian Government in the state in 1999.

According to him, the completion and commissioning of over 100 roads across the state has shown that governor Soludo’s administration was focused and ready to provide more infrastructural development for the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alex Obiogbolu, said Soludo is changing the narrative. He said the governor has done well in various sectors, including road construction, technological advancements, free healthcare services and empowerment.

Commissioners at the event including Tonycollins Nwabunwanne (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters), Patricia Igwebuike (Transport), Anthony Ifeanya (Petroleum and Mineral Resources) declared that there is no vacancy in the government house and urged the people to throw their weight behind the governor to continue to deliver dividends of democracy in the state.
