Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has directed the management of University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences,(UAES), Umuagwo to cut the tuition fees for those studying agriculture by 50 per cent.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Christopher C Eze disclosed the directive during the 2023/2024 matriculation ceremony of the institution.

Prof Eze while describing the university as a robust boot camp for nurturing the next generation of leaders, appealed to the students to utilise the opportunity offered by the state governor and shun all forms deviant behaviors and other vices.

He urged the students to see their admission just as an achievement in their educational career and also a means to unlocking their true potentials.

“UAES has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct including examination malpractices, cultism, unruly and violent behaviour, keeping late nights, prostitution, internet fraud, armed robbery, drug addiction, kidnapping stealing, hooliganism, wilful destruction of the university property, drunkenness, gambling, cohabitation, indecent dressing among others. And we will not hesitate to sanction any misdemeanor. Do not engage in anything that will bring regrets in your later life.”

Professor Eze further stated that a total of 471 students were inducted into either the 4 or 5 year programmes in the five faculties of the university namely Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Science, Computing and Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences.
