A group under the aegis of Southern Nigerian People’s Mandate (SNPM) has told President Bola Tinubu to resign from office following his administration’s decision to distribute dollars to Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Nigeria.

A statement signed by its President, Augustine Chukwudum; and Secretary, Segun Diya, described FG’s decision to distribute dollars to BDC operators at the rate of over N1,200 to one dollar as economic genocide against the suffering masses in the country.

The group said the move is an additional salt to injury and evidence that the Federal Government is not interested in alleviating the plight of the masses facing untold hardship in the land.

The statement read: “Southern Nigeria People’s Mandate (SNPM) wishes to inform Nigerians on the consistent plan by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase the hardship they are going through daily.

“It would be recalled that within the week, the apex bank, CBN, released dollars to Bureau De Change (BDC) operators at the rate of over N1,200 one dollar, but same President Tinubu had presented the 2024 budget to the national assembly pegging the exchange rate at N600 naira to one dollar.

“Today, under the same administration, the dollar has skyrocketed by over 100 percent, that is why SNPM is reacting on behalf of the majority suffering Nigerians who are finding it very difficult to get a meal in the present economic situation.

“We are raising this alarm because Tinubu’s administration is not interested in making things better for the masses who have been in hellfire for nearly 25 years of civil rule from 1999 to date.

“We renew our calls to civil society to rise to checkmate this administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because our people at National Assembly who claimed to be our representatives are there for their selfish interests that is why none of them is talking about the welfare of suffering Nigerians.

“They are only interested in collecting huge amounts of money to buy houses in Dubai, London, USA, and other developed countries while Nigerian masses are busy suffering and heading to the abyss.

“Nigerians must be enlightened to know that nothing good will come out from this administration that is busy creating more poverty for the masses. It is now time for all to join our voices together to call President Tinubu and all the members of the national assembly to resign because they have proved to Nigerians that they are incompetent to run the affairs of this country as executive and so-called representatives.

“This call for their resignation is a project that all Nigerians must be involved in because hunger knows no tribe nor religion.”
