A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Benjamin Apugo, has expressed his delight over the performances of Governor Alex Otti, averring  that “Abia is now working under Otti’s watch.”

Prince Apugo who spoke after a private visit to Gov Otti Thursday night at the Governor’s residence, declared that Abia for the first time, had got a real Governor.

Throwing party affiliation to the winds, the APC chieftain said he was impressed with the legendary achievements so far posted by Otti within 10 months of his administration.

Apugo said that Otti had dwarfed all the achievements of his predecessors put together.

He said that he had no regrets supporting Otti, a Labour Party candidate against his own party  during the 2023 polls.

“My party does not mean anything to me, I am a chieftain of the APC, a member National Board of Trustees, member of the National Caucus of the APC.

“My concern is my state, today. Today, I am happy about what is happening in my state.

“Before he (Governor Otti) won the election, I told Abia people to vote for him, not minding the position I am holding in my party.

“I never bothered with the (governorship) candidate of the APC. We had none. I told Abia people that this man (Governor Otti) will bring us back to life.

“That’s what I told them, and all of them listened to me. And what I said that time, it’s no longer myself alone, now, that is saying it. Everybody is saying that Abia has come to stay,” Apugo affirmed.

According to Prince Apugo, those who governed Abia for the past 24 years did not do well as “they merely looted Abia.”

He challenged them to identify their legacy projects, stressing that he could not see “what they accomplished.”

Asked what could be his advice to the Governor, Apugo said Governor Otti had done what he (Apugo) wanted him to do,  therefore, he does not need any advice from him.

He, however, said that the Governor would now have to advise others, who would succeed him, to listen to the people and work for them.

Apugo who pledged his continued prayers and support for Otti, urged him to sustain his developmental drive.
