Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Imo State command, on Friday 12th April intercepted a logistics truck conveying illicit drugs.

The vehicle with registration number JGB 403XB was intercepted by the command’s operatives on patrol along Owerri-Onitsha Expressway.

According to a release by Director, Media & Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters Abuja, Mr.Femi Babafemi, the operatives recovered 230 blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 119kg hidden under household items after a thorough search.

The release also states that 38 years Joseph Onyemiche from Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State and 28 years old Ifeanyi Kenneth from Ekwusigo LGA in Anambra State, were arrested for the crime.

While commending the officers and men of the Imo command, the Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.) equally applauded their counterparts in all the commands across the country for intensifying their efforts in drug supply reduction.
