Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on Thursday began his disruptive innovative governance policy by demolishing the popular holy ghost motor park at the centre of Enugu metropolis.

The motor park hosting different transport companies with routes all over the country has in recent times become very rowdy and a den of criminals hence a source of concern to many Enugu residents.

There were several reported cases of criminal activities in the area including phone snatching, armed robbery, pilfering snatching of travelers’ luggage amongst others at holy ghost motors.

The government, in an attempt sanitise the area decided to partner the Nigeria Railway Corporation owners of the land with the view to building an inter-switch motor terminal.

Meanwhile, two people were said to have died as the bulldozers began pulling down structures in the area.

Sources said that one of the dead persons was pulling a rod out of a building and the bigger rod fell on him and he died on the spot another was a scavenger who was trapped in the rubble.

Many residents of the state have commended the governor for his bold initiatives and urged him to stick to the purpose for which the parks was meant.

Speaking, former Ezeagu Local Government chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Ezinwa, said the governor has the political will and should be commended.

“He has the political wil. I laud his efforts, this place has been overdue; what he is doing is in order,” he said.
