Maverick musician, veteran actor and rights activist, Charly Boy, has mocked the former governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, saying he would soon describe his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election as a mistake.
Charly Boy, who declared the former Rivers State Governor as the “mistake maker of the century,” said this in reaction to Wike’s recent statement regretting installing his former aide, Siminalayi Fubara, as his successor, describing the action as a mistake.
Wike, who is currently engaged in messy political conflict with Governor Fubara had publicly admitted to anointing the current governor as his successor, describing it a “mistake that would be corrected at the appropriate time.”
But Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, Tuesday, took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to chide the FCT minister pointing out the sequence of political errors he had committed before now, labeling him as a “mistake maker.”
“I made a mistake in 2016 by supporting Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as PDP National Chairman. I made another mistake in 2017 by supporting Prince Uche Secondus as PDP National Chairman. I made another mistake for supporting Tambuwal for PDP ticket in 2019. I made yet another mistake in 2021 by supporting Senator Iyorchia Ayu as PDP National Chairman. And, most recently, I made a mistake in 2023 by supporting Sir Sim Fubara as my successor. I know very soon he will make another mistake for supporting Tinubu in 2023. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the mistake maker of the century,” Charly Boy tweeted.
Former Governor Wike and the Rivers State Governor, Fubara, are seemingly in what in local parlance is referred to as ‘fight-to-finish’ over control of the State, which has now torn the Rivers State House of Assembly into two camps.
