The Anambra State Police Command has begun manhunt for officers involved in an alleged N.8m extortion of a businessman in the state.
This follows information found on X social media platform that some officers from Onitsha Area Command allegedly extorted the sum N810,000 from the citizen in the area.
Confirming this report, spokesperson of the Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “Police got the information on X social media platform of the alleged extortion of the sum of eight hundred and ten thousand naira by the yet-to-be-identified officer of the Command.
“Police have initiated steps to identify the alleged officer, as information about the incident has been escalated to Area Commander Onitsha for necessary actions.”
He urged the victim and other members of the public to come forward to the Police Public Relations Office of the command headquarters, Awka, with any useful information that could help in apprehending the culprits.
He also assured that police are working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.
