Operatives of the Imo State Police Command, have apprehended four suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation at Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, Mr Henry Okoye, the suspects were arrested following an operation designed to combat cult-related activities within the state.

The statement identified the suspects as Uche Ibejiako, 26, from Owerri Municipal; Mariano Daniel, 24, from Delta State; Micheal Chukwuemeka, 23, from Umuokwu Izombe in Oguta Local Government Area (LGA); and Anointing Ezeh, 23, from Umugada Irete in Owerri West LGA.

All four suspects have confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity. 

Mr Okoye said investigation “is on-going to gather further evidence on their activities,” adding that the suspects will be arraigned  upon completion of investigation.

The Imo State Police Command therefore, urged members of the public, to support the police in  combating crime by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or via 0803 477 3600.
