Ben Ezechime, Enugu

Reverend (Dr) Emeka Eze has urged Nigerians to always look back and assist the needy in their communities to enhance the living standard of the rural dwellers.

Eze said this on Friday, when he donated a set of bands to pupils of Primary School Amaechenu, Ehazuabor Community in Nsukka Local Government Areas, Enugu State.

He said that helping people back home will bring about lol peaceful coexistence and guarantee a better living environment for the people.

“It is very important for people to understand the importance of community development.

“Community development is part of human development and human development involves looking at the needs of the people, and lifting the people from poverty, by helping in their welfare,” he said.

Eze, who is a renowned motivational speaker, said that when the community is developed the nation is developed.

“I know that government ought to do something for the people.

“But while we are trusting God and challenging the government to do something, every human being should look at his immediate environment to see how he/she can develop the environment,” he said.

According to him, part of developing the environment is to help the community where one comes from.

“Find out what they need and assist them and that is the only time that when you want to preach to them the gospel of Christ, or talk to them on any issue they will listen to you,” Eze said.

He added that “a man you have not impacted, you cannot affect, a man you have not impacted you cannot control.”

He said that if all the people that have been lifted in the society go back to help and develop their communities, Nigeria would be a better country.

“People should not forget their roots; if all the people that have been lifted decide to go back to their roots, Nigeria will be much better.

“We will be talking less about banditry, kidnapping, abduction and what have you across the country today.

Rev. Eze, who is a product of the school had in the past assisted the community in several other ways.

He said he has passion for helping his people, adding that his foundation, ‘Reverend Emeka Eze foundation’ was set up to help the needy, especially in education.

“I believe that with quality education at the communities level, crimes and criminality would reduce drastically,” he said.

In his remarks, the head master of the school, Mr Basil Ossai, thanked Eze for his benevolence and his passion for assisting the needy.

“We are grateful extremely grateful for this gesture and pray that God will continue to bless Reverend Eze,” he said.
