The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, is in a comfortable lead as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announces results of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.
INEC has so far announced results of 16 out of the 28 Local Government Areas in the state.
According to the results so far announced, by INEC on Sunday, Okpebholo polled 244,549 votes, while Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, scored 195,954 votes.
Labour Party candidate, Olumide Akpata is trailing behind with a total of 13,348 votes.
INEC has adjourned till 5:00 pm when it is expected to announce the results of the remaining two councils.
