The Police in Ebonyi state have commenced disciplinary measures against some of its officers allegedly involved in unprofessional conduct in a viral video.
Some policemen in the state were seen extorting money from motorists at two different police checkpoints, at Ishieke Junction in Abakaliki and along Hilltop-Nwofe Road.
The video of the incident, which has continued to receive wide condemnations, has since gone viral.
The command in a statement issued by the spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, condemned the unprofessional conduct of the policemen and vowed to sanction them.
The statement reads: “The command is aware of videos making rounds on social media depicting our officers acting unprofessionally at their duty posts.
“The command unequivocally condemns their actions and has identified the officers involved, while disciplinary actions have already been initiated against them.
