Professor Joy Ngozi Ezeilo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Law Teacher and Founder of WACOL, says she is fully in support of creation of state police in Nigeria.
Ezeilo said this in a statement through her X social media handle.
She lamented the failure of government to implement recommendations of various judicial panels of inquiry and to ensure justice for the Nigerian People.
“I was a part of the #ENDSARS Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality.
“It’s disheartening that justice has not been served, and the decisions from the various Panels of Inquiry nationwide have yet to be implemented.
“Without accountability, impunity continues,” she said.
The erudite Professor also accused the Nigeria Police of commercialising its operations, especially in Enugu State.
“These days, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has started commercialising their services, charging fixed amounts as high as 300k (in Enugu, for example), and hardly responds to poor crime victims requiring their intervention.
“I support the constitutional creation of State Police and the reorganisation of the NPF for utmost professionalism,” she said.
