The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved implementation of the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for workers in the state.
Governor Uzodimma who made the announcement at the Government House in Owerri during a meeting with Organised Labour leaders, noted that it underscores his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants.
Governor Uzodimma also authorised the immediate implementation of financial benefits for recently completed promotions of state workers due for advancement, to boost morale and enhance productivity within the state’s civil service.
He assured workers of further actions to address their needs, pledged to review pension allowances and promised to settle all outstanding gratuity payments for workers at both local and state levels, dating back to 2006.
In a show of goodwill, the governor also announced the payment of a 13th-month salary and the distribution of food items to all workers in the state.
“This is part of our deliberate efforts to reward hard work, dedication, and service to the state,” the governor emphasised.
According to the governor, the payment of the minimum wage increase and promotion implementation will take immediate effect.
