The immediate past Managing Director of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Dr. Jude Emecheta, has given reasons for his ambition to replace late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in the Senate.
Emecheta, who spoke in Awka, Thursday, said he is the best and most qualified among persons vying to represent Anambra South Senatorial District, pledging to provide adequate security in partnership with the state government.
“I am the best person to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for the Anambra South Senatorial seat. I am the best in terms of emotion and thoughtfulness. I have reviewed the profiles of those aspiring to replace Ifeanyi Ubah, and no one is talking about tackling insecurity or the development of Anambra South Senatorial District.
“I respect them; they are qualified, but they don’t have what it takes to bring the development that Governor Soludo has been fighting for all along. Soludo can only develop Anambra State if Anambra is secure,” he said.
According to him, most of the crimes in the state are cross-border, and if elected to represent Anambra South Senatorial District, he will prioritise security.
Emecheta also stated that due to insecurity, many wealthy Anambra sons and daughters are not coming home to invest.
He expressed regret that most people are not discussing the security situation in Anambra South but are instead focused on good representation.
“How can you represent people who are not secure,” he asked.
The former Managing Director of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency said that he is coming to complement Governor Soludo’s fight against insecurity, especially in Anambra South Senatorial District.
He added that most of the other aspirants are only interested in securing constituency projects to distribute handouts to people.
“Rice, yams, motorcycles, and other handouts are not what we need in the Anambra South Senatorial District. If we have security, there are many Anambra South rice men who can come home and build factories, providing people with decent living rather than relying on these handouts. My objective is to go to the Senate, secure my constituency, and protect my people,” he said.
Regarding allegations that he is a protégé of Edozie Njoku, Emecheta stated that he cannot deny their friendship.
“Njoku is my friend, and I cannot deny him because I want to contest for the Senate. On several occasions, I have called him to stop his actions against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), but he did not listen. The former APGA National Chairman, Dr. Victor Oye, and the current National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, are alive to confirm my efforts to stop him,” he said.
