Traditional rulers in Abia State, have expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for approving a monthly stipend of N250,000 for every traditional ruler in the state
This was contained in a press statement issued Saturday by the Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Linus Nto Mbah.
According to the statement, the Governor also approved N150,000 as special Christmas bonanza for each of the royal fathers to support their Christmas expenditure.
The statement said that payment of the new stipend would commence from December 2024.
Describing Otti’s relationship with traditional rulers as unprecedented, the monarchs commended the Governor’s friendly disposition towards them.
“No former Governor in the state has so honoured the traditional institution like Gov. Otti,” the statement read in part.
It added: “Every traditional ruler in Abia State will receive monthly stipend of N250,000 except the Traditional Rulers in Aba South, who will receive an amount different from others,” the statement read in part.
The traditional rulers prayed God “to give the Governor good health, sound mind, resources, more grace and wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs the new Abia which every part of the state is already enjoying.”
They reassured the Governor of their support to his administration, pledging to help promote peace and security in their various domains.
Before now, traditional rulers in Abia State have always complained about poor welfare package.
