The management of seven-time Nigeria league champions, Rangers International F.C, has successfully captured the signatures of six new players to galvanise the team to challenge for a top finish in the 2023/2024 NPFL season whose second round is billed to commence on February 14, 2024.
The players include: Uchenna Ezeala, a central defender formerly of 3SC of Ibadan; Zulkifilu Mohammed Rabiu, a support striker who last featured for Lobi Stars; and Odo Joshua Chidiebere, a centre forward who can also operate from both flanks and last featured in the Saudi Arabian league.
Others are; Ogbodo Kelechi Emmanuel, a midfielder who can operate offensively or centrally and joins from Disdeft Football Academy; Aniji Ifeanyichukwu Michael, an attacking midfielder from Flying Angels F.C; and Nebo Tochukwu Kingsley, a left-winger who joins from Olicon Rovers F.C all in Enugu.
The new players would be taking the places vacated by such players as Joel Okoro, Leonard Ugochukwu, Malachi Ohawume, Jonas Emmanuel, Barnabas Ingya, and few others that went on loan to other clubs in both the premier and lower leagues.
CEO of Rangers, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku described the new players as quality legs that would help the coaching crew get the right mix to challenge for honors in both the league and federation cup.
“We are glad we were able to complete these deals that would surely give the coaches enough opportunities to make selections that would help us challenge for honours this season and beyond. We went for experience and youthful players and it is my belief that they will deliver the goods when it is needed.”
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu on his part, said, “We are good to go. What we did is a mix of youth and experience to help us confidently challenge for trophies this season. We expect a very tough and challenging second stanza with our eyes set at achieving our set target for the season.”
