Chelsea Football Club have parted company with head coach Liam Rosenior following a run of poor results, the club announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Premier League side said the decision was taken after performances fell “below the necessary standards,” despite Rosenior’s professionalism since taking charge midway through the season.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club,” the statement read.
“This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly; however, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season.”
The club acknowledged Rosenior’s conduct during his tenure, describing it as one marked by “the highest integrity and professionalism,” and wished him success in his future career.
Chelsea confirmed that Calum McFarlane will assume responsibility as interim head coach until the end of the season, working alongside the existing backroom staff.
The London club added that the immediate focus remains on securing European qualification and advancing in the FA Cup.
Chelsea also indicated that a thorough review process will be undertaken as part of efforts to appoint a permanent head coach and restore long-term stability to the team.
