By Paul Nwosu
Let it not be again
The blood that cried in forest rain,
The mothers’ wails, the silence deep,
The children lost, the graves that weep.
The flame of peace must now remain,
No more the marching feet of pain.
Igboland, lift your voice and say:
Ozoemezina; not again.
The land still bears the scars of flame,
The air remembers every name.
We rise, not just to mourn, but mend.
Ozoemezina; not again.
You who beat the drums anew,
Who never saw the stealth birds of skies,
Nor the beasts of land and sea bring death,
Know this: war touches all.
Think twice before you stir that flame.
Ozoemezina; not again.
Sir (Dr.) Paul Nwosu was until recently, the Commissioner of Information in Anambra State.
