The Secretary-General of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Coal City 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF), Olumide Bamiduro, has expressed satisfaction with the facilities being put in place by the Enugu State Government ahead of the games.
Bamiduro stated this after a two-day facility inspection tour conducted jointly by the LOC and the National Sports Commission (NSC).
He said both bodies were impressed with the level of preparedness and the quality of facilities, including athletes’ hostels, training camps, and other sporting infrastructure for the 23rd edition of the National Sports Festival, tagged “Coal City 2026 Games.”
Speaking with newsmen after the tour, Bamiduro commended Governor Peter Mbah for constructing a brand-new hostel complex at the Government Technical College (GTC) Smart Green School to accommodate athletes.
“We went round Enugu, and the highpoint of our inspection was the new edifice at GTC Smart Green School, which will accommodate about 3,000 athletes,” he said.
Bamiduro noted that the team carried out an on-the-spot assessment of various facilities made available by the Enugu State Government, adding that the NSC was equally impressed with what it saw.
“The facilities were very impressive, and the NSC has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness,” he stated.
He further assured that Enugu was fully ready to host the games and urged residents to continue supporting the state government’s efforts to provide world-class facilities.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell the doubting Thomases that Enugu is ready for the games next year,” Bamiduro declared.
He also encouraged the people of Enugu to remain hospitable and to rally behind the government as preparations continue for the successful hosting of the 2026 festival.
