80 Anambra students receive full scholarships for JAMB, WAEC registrations

    EditorBy EditorFebruary 6, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

    Lawrence Nwimo, Awka

No fewer than 80 students from Anambra State have received full sponsorship for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registrations, courtesy of the Joseph Onuorah Foundation (JOF).

The Foundation sponsored the 2026 JAMB registration for 55 indigent and underprivileged students drawn from various communities in Orumba North and Orumba South Local Government Areas of the state.

It also extended the gesture to 25 deserving candidates sitting for the 2026 WAEC examinations in the same communities, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 80 students.

In a statement signed by the Founder of the Foundation, High Chief Dr Joseph Onuorah, and made available to journalists in Awka on Friday, the initiative was described as part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote access to education and guarantee equal opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

According to the statement, the intervention reaffirms the Foundation’s sustained commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment across Anambra State.

“This initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader mission to support young Nigerians whose academic ambitions are often constrained by financial hardship,” the statement read.

“By removing the financial burden associated with JAMB and WAEC registration, the Foundation is giving these students a fair opportunity to pursue tertiary education and compete on equal footing with their peers.”

The Joseph Onuorah Foundation, established in 2015 by High Chief Joseph Onuorah, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting less-privileged citizens of Anambra State through education, youth development, and social intervention programmes.

The statement further disclosed that the beneficiaries were selected through a transparent, merit-based, and community-driven process, ensuring that the support reached students who genuinely required assistance.

It added: “The programme reflects the Foundation’s strong conviction that education remains the most sustainable pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering long-term national development.

“Investment in education today is a strategic investment in the future of Anambra State, the South-East region, and Nigeria at large.”

The Foundation also disclosed that the registration exercise was fully supervised by the Project Manager, Mr Owuh Victor Kelechi.

The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the Joseph Onuorah Foundation, praising the organisation for finding them worthy of the sponsorship and easing a financial burden that could have hindered their academic pursuits.

They described the gesture as timely and life-changing, noting that it had renewed their confidence and determination to succeed. The students collectively pledged to study diligently and remain disciplined in their academic endeavours to justify the confidence reposed in them, the investment made in their education, and the Foundation’s vision of building a better future through learning and human capital development.
