The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, says the Fifth Generation Networks (5G network) is useful in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
Pantami disclosed this on Tuesday during the public presentation of “4th lnternational Conferences” organised by the lnstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in Abuja.
The event, which was hosted by the Nile University of Abuja was themed “Disruptive Technologies for Sustainable Development.”
Professor Pantami appealed to security institutions in the country to leverage on the 5G network to address the security challenges in Nigeria.
The minister described the 5G network as a viable platform for security institutions to adopt in tackling the security challenges in the country.
He urged the relevant security institutions to harness the potential of digital technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) Robotics, Artificial intelligence (AI) Augmented Reality (AR) which explored real time information for maximum efficiency.
According to him, 5G network will enhance transparency and economic development as its potential for job creation is unprecedented.
Pantami thanked the organisers of the event for such a brilliant and laudable programme.
Ikengaonline reports that the occasion was attended by the Chairman, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande.
Others are the event were Chief Executive Officer, Digital Bridge Institute, Prof. Mohammed Ajiya, a Director at NCC and Adviser to the Communication Minister on Technical Matters, Prof. Sahalu Junaidu and others.
