Some yet-to-be-identified assailants early Thursday morning stormed the Council Headquarters chanting hostile songs directed at the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki A total of eight students of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu, Ebonyi State, have been expelled for offences ranging from misconduct and indiscipline. In a similar vein, 800 students at the weekend matriculated during its 3rd matriculation ceremony. The Vice-chancellor of the institution, Professor Jesse Uneke, made the disclosure during the matriculation ceremony at the University campus. Ben Ezechime, Enugu Six members of the Enugu State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) have formally defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Speaker of the House, Hon. Uche Ugwu, during plenary on Thursday read the letters of defection by the six members. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Worried over the number of abandoned projects by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in Abia State, Governor Alex Otti, has urged the Ministry, as well as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to mobilise contractors back to site to complete them. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Screening for colon cancer as well as patients for surgery has commenced at designated hospitals ahead of the forthcoming medical mission in Abia State by the Association of Nigeria Physicians in the Americas, ANPA. Recall that registration of patients for the 10-day free medical outreach ended last week. Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Traders and residents of Ochanja market area and Fegge neighbourhood in Onitsha, Anambra State, Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest against politicians in the state.
