Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has flagged-off the construction of 3.2 kilometers Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road. Also flagged-off was the 2.2 kilometer Isaho Umuezeogu-NAUTH (Teaching Hospital Permanent site) Road. Nonsochukwu Uwa, Owerri Security operatives have arrested former deputy governor of Imo State, Gerald Irona. An eyewitness who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri said he was arrested from his Owerri residence at about 10:15 am on Wednesday. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has explained why it shifted the governorship and state assembly elections earlier scheduled for Saturday, March 11. Both elections according to the electoral umpire, will now hold on Saturday, March 18. The new date for the elections is now March 18, 2023. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Police in Ebonyi State have killed three gunmen who attacked residents in Ivo Local Government Area of the State. Police spokesperson, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, stated this in a statement on Wednesday. She said the incident happened on Tuesday in Ogwor community in Ivo Council area and Ọssọ in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Two factional executives have emerged from the Nigeria Labour Congress election held, on Tuesday. The Returning Officer that came from the National Secretariat of NLC, Mr Mike Ike Ene, declared Comrade Ogugua Egwu of ASUU as the duly elected chairman of NLC in the State. Ben Ezechime, Enugu The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Mr John Amadi, has warned troublemakers and those issuing threats of violence to steer clear the South-East polls during the March 11 polls. Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been granted its request to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS used for the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections. Presidential Election Petition Court sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, granted the request on Wednesday. The court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices, held that preventing the electoral umpire from reconfiguring the BVAS would adversely affect the forthcoming governorship and State Assembly elections.
