Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Abia State is set to address the challenge of unstable power supply through renewable energy. This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Power and and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday, an Engineer, during a stakeholders’ workshop on Off-grid Regulatory Framework in Umuahia, the state capital. The Commissioner who said the project was in synergy with India and Germany, explained that it was targeted at providing affordable energy for residents. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki Ebonyi State Government has sealed three fuel stations that allegedly indulged in sharp practices like meter adjustments and other sharp practices. The state government also issued a stern warning to fuel dealers and marketers in the 13 local government areas of the state, to shun shady practices. Ike Nnachi, Abakaliki The Police in Ebonyi have confirmed that a couple, Mr George Obasi and Mrs Chioma Obasi died in Abakaliki after a gas explosion in their residence. It said contrary to rumors of inverter explosion or dynamite, preliminary investigation by its officers indicates that it was a gas explosion. The late Chioma is said to be the sister of popular Afrobeats singer, Patoranking. The couple were said to have suffered serious injuries from the explosion which happened recently at their residence in Abakaliki, capital of the state. It urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to quickly set up a special court for the prosecution of suspected crude oil thieves, corruption, and economic sabotage in Nigeria.
