Lawrence Nwimo, Awka Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has described his first 100 days in office as a case of bumpy ride, but added that it has also been good. He said he looks forward to better times ahead as governor of the state, while also assuring that every promise he made to the people of the state will be actualised. By Jude Eze The perennial resentment at their systemic political exclusion in Nigeria, by Ndigbo, is gradually getting demystified. Prior to the recent party national primary elections, everyone had believed that this tribal alienation which Ndigbo have lamented over the years was heightened by President Buhari’s apparent insensitivity to Nigeria’s delicate sociocultural and religious diversity. The blames were rightly shifted to the centre. It is always emotionally satisfying, to point fingers to external causes, for one’s misfortunes. So, the Igbos have since 2015 been taking respite in the convenient argument that Nnamdi Kanu, and all other secessionist crusaders (and the…
Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia It was a moment of grief as family members, friends, associates and sympathizers gathered Saturday at the Isuochi country home of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, to bury her remains. She hailed from Isuochi in Abia State but married in Anambra State . But the controversy over her tragic death made her people insist on burying her in her land of birth. The Dunamis lead singer died on April 8, 2022, in Abuja following alleged assault by her husband. Her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, is still standing trial over her death.
Stephen Ukandu, News & Features Editor The utterances, actions, and inactions of some Igbo political elite are, undoubtedly, in sharp contrast to the efforts towards actualising the Nigeria President of Igbo extraction in 2023. It is disheartening to note that at a time when the project is gaining the support of prominent Nigerians from outside the South-East like the Niger Delta Leader, Chief Edwin Clark; and Pa Ayo Adebanjo of the Afenifere, some Igbo political elite openly work against the project. The affected Igbo political elite for reasons best known to them but certainly not unconnected with selfish interests, decided…

Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia Those celebrating the travails of the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, over their arrest and subsequent detention by London police for allegedly facilitating the travel of a minor from Nigeria to the United Kingdom to donate a kidney to their ailing daughter, may be disappointed. This is following the emergence of fresh facts showing some glaring discrepancies in the claims of the supposed donor, David Ukpo Nwamini. The London metropolitan police, Thursday, said they were charging both Ekweremadu and his wife to court following an investigation by the police’s specialist crime team…
Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia As the South-East is still grumbling that it was denied the opportunity of producing the running mate to Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, has reiterated that he is an Igbo man, but from Delta State in the South-South zone. Okowa who made the claims at the Channels TV Politics Today programme on Thursday, appealed to Ndigbo in the South-East to accept him as their own. He said his Igbo ancestry was not in doubt. The PDP presidential candidate nominated Okowa as his running mate ahead of Rivers State…
Stephen Ukandu, Umuahia There are strong indications that David Ukpo Nwamini, the supposed organ donor to the daughter of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, is not an under-aged but over 21 years old contrary to reports and claims in some quarters. Nwamini had reportedly claimed he was 15 years and was trafficked to the UK for organ harvest but details of information in his international passport revealed otherwise. In fact, the age on his passport read 21 years, and a further digging into his Facebook page photos revealed his photos showing he actually could be above 15 years. His…

He made two accusations in a statement signed by Director, Media and Publicity, Anyichucks Campaign Organization, Abia Onyike.
