Sani Mohammed, the Architect that is handling renovation work at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, has said that the pitch will be ready for use in no distant time.
Mohammed said that the ongoing renovation work in the stadium has reached over 80 per cent completion.
Meanwhile, Ikengaonline understands that some ardent fans of Rangers International were planning a peaceful protest over the delay in the completion of the renovation at the stadium, popularly called the Cathedral.
Some of the fans who spoke to our Correspondent lamented the poor run of Rangers in the current abridged NPFL.
Rangers have played three matches lost two and drew one.
Peter Eze, an ardent fan of the flying Antelopes, blamed the lack lustre performance of Rangers on lack of playing pitch.
“We want to know what is happening to the cathedral. Who is responsible for this show of shame. We want to know.
“Our darling Rangers have been playing home away from home for two years now with no continental football. We are tired,” he said.
Similarly, another fan, Ndubuisi Egbo, blamed lack of action at the cathedral on lack of political will by the State Government.
“When they want to hold political activities, they use the stadium but they are not interested in having our darling Rangers play at the cathedral.
“To me, it is wickedness. Our club must not die. Rangers is not an Enugu State club; it is for the whole South-East,” he said.
Ikengaonline reports that Rangers International Football Club of Enugu has been playing its home matches in Awka Township Stadium without their vociferous supporters.
