For flogging his own son for allegedly watching inappropriate video, a UK-based Nigerian Medical doctor (name withheld), has lost custody of his 16-year old son to the United Kingdom Government.
According to reports, the teenager was caught watching a video the father considered inappropriate with his friends that visited him in their home for a sleepover, and the father decided to discipline him.
The father was said to have used his belt to flog him.
Infuriated by the man’s action, the visiting teenager’s friends invited the police who came and took away the boy into protective custody.
When the matter was charged to court, the 16-year-old told the court that his father “always flogs” him and “is forcing him to choose a career he doesn’t want.”
Meanwhile, a child advocate in a video disclosed that a UK-based Nigerian doctor lost custody of his 16-year-old son for flogging him with a belt.
They also told the police that while flogging his son, the doctor repeatedly told his son “is this how you’ll become a doctor?”
The claims of his friends were confirmed by the teenager who told the court that his father always flogged him and was forcing him to choose a career he had no interest in.
After listening to the boy’s testimony, the court ordered that the boy be taken away from his father.
He will remain in custody of the UK government.
